Second, it does not what to come out of gear when it's running and wants to lunge forward if you take your foot off the brake. Two things that I've noticed that likely need replacing are the drive belt and the buttons on the clutch are worn.

Oct 27, 2020 · Here is a picture of my Gator. The secondary/driven clutch is at the bottom and you can see the belt is at the very top when it's not running. You can also see how the primary/drive clutch has opened all the way letting the belt "fall" down to the shaft. It is not tight and the belt has some clearance on either side when it's at the bottom. Gear shifting getting harder. My 850I has 308 hrs., all original, never had any major problems. Lately on start up or when it is still cold, after the engine has been first started when I shift from forward to reverse the trans. wants to grind the gears. Then a 1/4" drive metric socket set helps a lot as does having a good supply of 1/4" extensions and a universal joint.
