I am now having a problem with a 2002 Prius that I would like some input on. The Red Triangle of Death appears only after cold starts. After the car is turned on, the code appears after about 30 seconds. It disappears after normal driving for about an hour (assuming the car is restarted several times to reset the code).My beloved 2006 Prius with about 117,000 miles on it needs to go to the shop (I'm not a DIY mechanic). First it was the master break solenoid, got that replaced. Car drove fine but the light came up. Just had a shop diagnose it and said it was the inverter coolant for the main hybrid battery. Replaced it but the triangle is still there. My OBD2 reader is showing no codes. I remove the the triangle using the dongle but it comes back up immediately.

The dealership should have cleared the codes, you can do yourself if you have use of a OBD II reader. Still strange that it put the light on from the coolant add. It should be red/pink, not the green though. To the touch the red/pink seems like it has more of a lubricant in it, (it's very slickery.) 1.

You should check if your inverter pump is working. Open the inverter coolant reservoir and see if the coolant is moving rapidly when your car is "READY".
